Practice History

The practice was founded in 1909 when Dr Smylie put up his plaque. His step-son, Dr David Wilson started in practice in 1946 and they worked closely until Dr Smylie died in 1958. Following the death of Dr Smylie, Dr Wilson worked mainly single-handed until his retirement in 1978 when Dr Ronnie Baird took over the practice.

Dr Baird worked from the Health Centre in Templemore Avenue until in 1991 when East-Side Surgery was built further down the avenue on the corner of Major street. Dr  Stevens,  worked in the practice with Dr Baird for several years.  Dr Baird retired in 2012 and Dr Stevens retired in December 2018.

Dr Garland was a registrar  in Eastside Surgery, he became a partner in April 2010 and following an extended sabbatical left the practice in March 2015. Dr Thompson covered Dr Garland's sessions while he was on sabbatical and became a partner in April 2015.

Dr  Kennedy joined the surgery in October 2016 and works 4 sessions

Dr Henderson   Joined the practice in August 2021  and  works 4 sessions.
