Dr Stevens is retiring on Friday 28th December 2018 after 34 years in Eastside surgery. This is the end of an era both for Dr Stevens and for the staff in Eastside surgery. We will miss her a lot, however, we wish her well in her next adventures. Thank you Dr Stevens.

We recognise this may cause concern however, the practice cannot offer any further information in relation to these letters. The Trust have provided a help line if you wish to discuss this matter further. The help line is available on:

Appointments can be made to see any doctor in the practice through the receptionist, either by calling at the surgery or telephoning 90451000, option 2. Or you can book an appointment online (please see the receptionist to obtain your unique pin number). Please telephone the surgery between 8.30am – 9.00am if you are unwell and need advice/treatment that day. Please make a separate appointment for each person. If you are unable to keep an appointment, please cancel as soon as possible.
If you have not seen your GP for 3 years, or you are over 65 and have not seen your GP in the last year, you should consider making an appointment.
THE SURGERY DOES NOT OPERATE OPEN SURGERIES
For emergency calls during surgery hours telephone 02890 451000. Urgent requests will be given prompt attention by the receptionists and the doctor will be informed. It will be necessary for the receptionist to ask some details regarding the condition of the patient in order for the doctor to assess the urgency. If the call is not deemed urgent your number will be taken and the doctor will call you after surgery or you may be asked to call back after surgery hours.
Many problems may be resolved by telephone. The practice nurses are available to offer advice, since it is not always possible to speak to the doctor. If you wish to speak to a doctor, please telephone our reception team as early as possible in the morning. Reception staff will take
Your name will be added to the Telephone list . Doctors will triage all phone calls received and contact patients through the course of the same day.
Non urgent calls received after 2pm will be added to the following day telephone list.
The reception staff assist in the efficient day to day running of the practice and support the services we provide. When you telephone the surgery the receptionist may ask you a few questions. They have been trained to make these enquiries so that we can help you in the most appropriate way. Strict confidentiality is maintained by all staff. Reception staff are here to help but their job is very demanding and are often very busy, so please be patient.
If possible please try to telephone reception before 9.30am if you require a home visit.

A doctor or nurse may phone you back as it may be that your problem can be dealt with by telephone advice, or that it would be more appropriate to send a nurse, or indeed arrange a hospital attendance.
Please remember that several patients can be seen in the practice in the time that it takes to make one home visit. There are also better facilities for examining and treating patients at the surgery.
Please note it is not the policy of the practice to attend home visits purely on the grounds of lack of transport or for social reasons.
The Surgery entrance, consulting rooms and a toilet are suitable for wheelchair access.
Dr Stevens and Dr Thompson are both post-graduate and undergraduate trainers . A General Practitioner Registrar is usually attached to the practice. The Registrar is a fully qualified doctor, who wishes to specialise in general practice. From time to time we will have a medical student attached to the practice as part of their training. If the student is with the doctor you will always be asked for your permission for him/her to stay during the consultation. Medical students do not carry out any duties within the practice except under the supervision of one of the doctors.
